Lucile Diacono

A graduate of the École nationale supérieure d'arts de la Villa Arson (Nice), Lucile Diacono is a sculptor whose work revolves primarily around ceramics.
It was during her studies at the École des Beaux-Arts that she first discovered and explored this material. Learning the gestures of modelling and moulding naturally led her towards sculpture. In 2020, she deepened her craft through a professional training programme at the École d'Art Céramique de Vallauris (EACV), followed by a year-long research and creative residency at the same institution.
For this artist-craftsperson, studio work is fundamental. It is there that she shapes her pieces, drawing on the traditional techniques of potters. Her body of work explores the hybridisation between the thrown utilitarian object, the body, drapery, and the botanical. She constructs a formal dialogue in which handles, necks, and feet recur as leitmotifs, creating a unity across her entire production.
With the hand and the transformation of matter at the heart of her practice, she has been developing since 2024 — alongside her sculptural work — a line of tableware and objects in mixed clays. Named Paesina, this collection is freely inspired by the mineral world and the research of Roger Caillois.
