Paesina

It was during my studies at Villa Arson that I first discovered and explored ceramics. My initial project involved creating a collection of "false stones" in earthenware — a line of inquiry that naturally led me to the writings of Roger Caillois and his fascinating mineral collection, which remain a major source of inspiration to this day.

In 2020, I deepened my craft through a professional training programme at the École d'Art Céramique de Vallauris (EACV), followed by a year-long creative residency. It was during this period that I was introduced to the technique of mixed clay by Muriel Koenig, heir to the renowned Mosaïque Gerbino studio.

Shortly after, a commission from my sister Garance led me to develop my own earthenware blends and the quadrilobed form that has since become the signature of my work. The connection to paésines (Paesina, in Italian) felt inevitable. These "picture stones" — marbles from the Florence region — reveal ruiniform landscapes after a chance cut and careful polishing. Long admired as natural paintings, they once graced the shelves of curiosity cabinets.

In my work with mixed clay, I find this same relationship with chance: it is only after cutting and polishing that the final pattern reveals itself. It is this element of the unpredictable that makes each marbling truly unique. In the depths of a plate, one might glimpse a distant landscape, a still lake, or a flight of birds.

Today, my range of forms and hues has grown. All my pieces are handmade, making each object a singular, unrepeatable creation. While every piece carries the legacy of an artisanal tradition, my deepest wish is that they find a place in your home and become part of your everyday life. This is why I design objects with multiple uses — to collect, to combine, and to make your own.

I also create bespoke series for private clients and professionals. Please don't hesitate to get in touch to bring your projects to life.
